Dr. Ivelis Hernández-Ramírez is originally from Puerto Rico. Her friendly nature, warm sense of humor and kindheartedness makes you feel at ease. Her background and training have allowed her to serve patients in the different aspects of dentistry. She is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Puerto Rico, School of Dental Medicine in 2002. She completed a General Practice Residency Program at Faxton’s St. Luke’s Healthcare Utica, New York in 2004; followed by a second General Practice Residency at Rochester General Hospital, Rochester, New York, where she was the chief resident. These years of general practice residency contributed to Dr. Hernández’s desire to specialize in Prosthodontics. In the year 2008 Dr. Hernández completed her training in the Prosthodontics Residency Program at Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Georgia.
After completing her training, Dr. Hernández got married and moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she worked in the private practice sector. She then moved to North Carolina, where she was a dentist at Greene County Community Health Care and later joined East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Prosthodontics in 2012. Dr. Hernández has been a practicing dentist throughout her career.
Dr. Hernández and her husband, Dr. Lasanta, realized they should join their love and passion for dentistry and decided to leave their respective jobs and practices and create H&L Dentistry.
Besides dentistry, Dr. Hernández has a passion and love for baking, for animals and nature, traveling, gardening, reading good books, sharing with friends, being active at Church, and most important, spending time with family.
Dr. Hernández and Dr. Lasanta love beautiful North Carolina.
They live in Durham NC with their lovely four legged daughters, Chanel and Prada, two very sweet long-haired dachshunds.
